Mike is an experienced trainer and operational security and risk management consultant. He has worked and delivered training in a variety of high risk and complex business environments from South and Central America to Africa and the Middle East. His commercial experience has included managing a consultancy practice in a leading global business risk consultancy; delivering security, risk analysis and vulnerability assessments to a diverse range of sector clients – from aviation, telecommunications, to pharmaceuticals and engineering and has extensive experience of working with major clients in the oil and gas sector. In addition, he has provided consultancy for a sugar producer in Africa, security and safety project management for the first operational European EP oil companies operating in Kurdistan and was a country manager for a major PSC in Afghanistan, providing risk mitigation to corporate and public sector clients.
He began his career in the military and during this time he excelled as a trainer, working on tasks in countries as diverse as Swaziland, Nicaragua and Colombia. After leaving the military he worked as an Investigations Officer for the UK Customs before moving into the commercial security sector. He currently manages an independent security risk consultancy.
He holds an MSc in Security Management from Loughborough University School of Business and Economics and is an ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and member of the Institute of Explosive Engineers. In addition Mike is a Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) with the UK Security Institute – a Royal Charter recognising the highest possible standards for individuals in the security sector.
